American Youth Soccer Organization Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.

AYSO PEARL CITY - Serving Pearl City & Aiea Communities

Pearl City AYSO is a volunteer-run organization. Coaches, referees and administrators are all volunteers. Nationally over 220,000 parents, neighbors, relatives and friends lend their time and talents so that each child gets a terrific AYSO experience. We depend on all of you to help fill the hundreds of needed positions that allow our kids to enjoy each new soccer season. Without the help of these countless individuals volunteering their time, there simply is no AYSO Region 381.

AYSO’s volunteer foundation ensures that it’s all about what’s good for kids. It also makes AYSO very affordable. AYSO operates in a business manner, but volunteers ensure healthy kids are playing a sport they can enjoy for life.

AYSO has developed special training that helps parents who may have little or no soccer experience quickly gain the age-appropriate knowledge and skills they need to be effective coaches and referees. It also has unique administrative and management training. This ensures that each community program:

  • Abides by the AYSO philosophies
  • Offers a great AYSO experience
  • Continues to grow, offering the AYSO opportunity to more children

Although it is not required that you volunteer, it is an expectation that parents help support their child and the other parents who they will be teamed with.  It only takes a few hours to become qualified as an introductory-level coach or referee. But if you’re not able to commit even that much time, there are many small jobs you can help with. Even a couple of hours each season are an important contribution to your team and Region!

The following are the available roles for each season but most importantly, we need Coaches and Referees as there cannot be teams without Coaches or games without Referees
Head and Assistant Coach: No experience is required for before coaching. All Coaches need to be certified from 8U and up.  Please see our Coach Training page for more details.
  • Referees: No experience necessary! Referees must certified.  Please check see our Referee Training page for more details
  • Team parent: Responsible for coordinating the team banner (if the team wants one), team photos, field monitor/snack shack workers as necessary, coach gifts. and the end-of-season party.
  • Goal setup/tear-down: Teams that play the first or last game of the day (10U and under) must set up or tear down the goals for their field. It only takes a couple of people and can be done in about 5 minutes.
  • Field striping: Teams that play the first game of the day must help re-stripe the field using the supplied equipment. This job can be done in about 5 minutes.
  • Board members: Board members are responsible for the overall guidance of the region. From time to time, we will have open positions, but even if we don't have anything listed, we can always find something!

  • I'm convinced. Sign me up!

For board member, coaching, referee, and team parent positions, please register as a volunteer (please register or log in first, see help page if needed). All applicants must pass a background check performed by Verified Volunteers, an independent third party.

Board members, coaches, referees, and team parents must all take the Safe Haven online course. Board members, coaches and referees are also required to take the CDC Concussion Awareness online course. The concussion course is recommended, but not required, for team parents. Online courses are available at the AYSOU site. The other jobs do not require any registration or online training, just a willingness to help.

We know your time is valuable, and that there’s hardly ever enough “spare” time to volunteer everywhere you’re needed. From the bottoms of our hearts, thank you for contributing to the success of Pearl City AYSO!

    Thank you!
